So, this week for the Springing to Action Done Girls Challenge, we're supposed to post a blog with a little info about ourselves and also measure our body fat percentage, so we know where we stand.
My name is Erin, and I'm excited to be a member of the Sparklers team! I'm 29 and recently moved to Tennessee with my fiance. The area we live in is completely beautiful with a ton of outdoor activities, so we enjoy doing that when we can - hiking, biking, kayaking, etc. He and I also host a trivia night at a local bar once a week, which is a lot of fun (and also a lot of work writing all the questions!).
My weight loss struggle has been more or less ongoing for about 10 or 11 years now, though I've had some successes in that time. I feel like I've never really focused on it and stayed dedicated to it long enough though, so that's what I'm trying to change this time. I don't want this to be a "for a little while" thing, but instead, I want to slowly change the way I think about food and activity for the long haul. Clearly, losing weight is important to me, but my number 1 goal is to be fit and healthy. As part of that, I also quit smoking, and have been a non-smoker now for exactly a month and a week!
For the bonus challenge, I did visit the website to measure body fat, but I found it inaccurate. I also have a body fat monitor (and had my body fat composition measured at a local college a few months ago), and according to my monitor, my current body fat percentage is 48.5%. By comparison, the website with the tape method told me 62.1%, so that's a pretty huge discrepancy.
I'm excited to be a part of the team, and look forward to keeping this going through June!
