4 More Weeks?

Saturday, February 23, 2013

The Biggest Loser contest at my gym is officially over next Saturday. With less than impressive weigh-ins recently, I've come to realize my chance of winning is pretty slim, barring limb amputation. On the upside, during the contest I've lost 10% of my body weight and have definitely noticed an improvement in the fit of my clothes. I am glad I've participated and have definitely gotten stronger, but it's been a little harder than I expected.

The time commitment has been pretty major since I'm at the gym 5 days a week, sometimes 6, for anywhere from 30 minutes to 2+ hours, plus the drive. I've sorta started to feel pressure at the weigh-ins, which is self-inflicted because I'm so competitive.

Anyway, the gym is offering a 4 week extension to the contest and I've gone back and forth about doing it. I love the accountability and it certainly does make me more mindful of what I'm eating since my food log is checked weekly. Also, one of my new friends in the contest is doing the 4 week add-on and wants to do it together. On the other hand, I kinda want a break from the pressure and time suckage (my word). I'll be praying about it and we'll see what happens.

Loved reading the NSV about the fit of your clothes! I agree that the accountability might be good for you, and I wish I had at least a part-time fitness buddy. So doing it with your friend would be nice too. That said, I'm so glad that you're seeking guidance from the Spirit in this matter, as His leading WILL be the right choice.

Just had a thought - is it possible to do a 2-week extension with the option of doing the other two? That might make the commitment more manageable for you.

Prayer is always the way to go. However, it sounds like the 4weeks might be a help to you. Glad that your clothes are fitting better. emoticon
