New TV

Saturday, February 23, 2013

We're getting a new TV today!! Not that I'm buying it but they are replacing the one in the condo. So a new flat screen is in the picture. I had to take down my Wii and get ready for it as they will be delivering it sometime today and setting it up.

I've had these flat screens before and I'm not impressed. When you get older, your eye sight isn't all that great so these TV's only come in as good as you can see. Perhaps its just change that I have a problem with but to me this means learning how to use something all over again. The remotes are more complicated and I do so prefer something simple. My brother in law just got a smart TV and has yet to learn how to use it. Talk about complicated!! It's just like the new washing machines. What good is it doing so many things if you only use the same setting and none of the other stuff. That's how I feel about these new TV's. But we have no choice anymore, we have to change with the times since the others aren't available.

Now I understand my parents frustration when they complained about the new things they had to buy. My Mom still can't clean her self cleaning stove and has to wait for me to do it. They can't set the clock on the microwave so when the power goes off, it just blinks. The sets of instructions that come with these things are written in such small print that even with a magnifing glass it can't be read. The booklets are so thick but that's only because there is every language under the sun in it. The old saying is so true, that what goes around, comes around! We'll all get old sooner rather than later, lol!

Yeah, I know what you mean. My hubby does most of the tv stuff - we have to use one remote for the TV and another if we want to watch a DVD or Netflix on the Playstation 3, etc. After more than a year, I can finally do all the switching - phew!

I hope you're happy with the TV.

words of wisdom . so true . only one of the reasons i hate to get anything new also . I just can not learn how to operate them . My hubby gets so angry with me when he keeps telling me how to do something . I told you last week how to run the vcr . why do i have to tell you again is his favorite rant with myself . I am not wanting to tell him i do not remember how to get to the setting that starts the program . emoticon
