How your "Diet" Soda is killing you

Hi Spark Friends,

We all know that Aspartame and MSG is bad for you, but this is a great reminder of just how bad it is. I recently read this article and found it very informative would like to share it. If you have the time, please check it out .

    Thanks!... I use MSG in moderation in my cooking. I use in moderation, with no side-effects.

    I agree that artificial sweeteners are toxic, but I don't agree that it makes you fat. I have been using aspartame for years and it aids in me losing weight as a substitute for sugar. I have a ferocious sweet tooth. That being said, I am trying to wean myself off of aspartame, but I have to find a safe substitute because I know I will never stop wanting or lose my desire to eat sweets. ... why does this have to be so complicated!!!!! emoticon

    I've always stayed away from foods/drink that tote 'diet' on the label and loved the article. The explanation of what aspartame does to the body is great and to think it's not just in soda. Thank you for sharing it!

    I used to drink a Diet Pepsi every day as it was my mid-day snack! Didn't think I'd ever give it up and within the last seven months, probably have had three. I will still drink my Diet Pepsi as everything in moderation. Thanx for sharing as we need to educate ourselves as the consumer. emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Water's great instead, or green tea too; both are my favorites. That is unless it's time to drink something more interesting, and even then in moderation emoticon

    yes, indeed, you are right! I just watched the movie "Hungry for Change" last night on Netflix, and they mentioned MANY times the dangers of fake sweeteners and diet soda. Diet soda will make you fat!!!!!!!!! How many of us know that?

    Also, I really recommend these movies, if you haven't seen them already: Fat Sick and Nearly Dead, Forks over Knives and Hungry for Change. But it sounds like you and I are already thinking along the same wavelengths.
