Light my fire!

5% challenge starts today! So my biggest ambition isn't the 5% loss, it's the 60 minutes of exercise per day. I've not been good at this lately. But that's why I need a challenge, right?!

Last night I got the BEST news. I definitely felt like a firework. I was accepted into one of the largest farmers markets around here. Now I'm in the two best markets in the city. Instead of having to go to a Saturday market and two mid-week markets, I can do all my sales on Saturday and get more done during the week. A good friend who worked for me last year is going to sell for me at one market and I'll sell at the other. I have wanted to get into this market for four years.

It was all sudden. One of my mid-week markets has an online application form. After I filled that one out, I saw that this other market also used that process. So I figured what the heck. Then when I got the confirmation email, I saw that I had missed the deadline. So I wrote the market master an email and said that it was okay that I won't get in, since I missed the deadline, but that I'd appreciate it if she'd consider me if an opening occurred. Usually the best you can hope for is to get on a wait list. That's the last I thought of it.

And then last night I got APPROVED! Woo-hoo! If the season goes well and harvest is good, i can literally double my gross sales. With less work than the mid-weeks, which never match Saturday sales.

I feel so blessed! And now I'm chomping at the bit to get started outside, and there's snow in the forecast for 6 of the next 8 days! Oh, well, I can at least get seeds going in the greenhouse. After I finish grading these papers. Only two more months of classes, and then it's farming full time! Woo-hoo!!

emoticon and a note to add that I really appreciate our local farmers. It's such energy-intensive work; I'm not sure people realize how much goes into being successful at not only growing, but getting to market and selling!
