Menu Plan: Part 1

BOOKWORM27, who is a constant source of inspiration for me and who has had a major part to play in my weight loss/maintenance success over the past year, has encouraged me to bring some structure and consistency into my nutritional habits. I'm still trying to find out what works best for me, so I'll be doing some experimenting and tweaking... but this past week I tried sticking to a regimented planned menu and feel like I thrived all week. It's amazing how much energy I had and how stable my weight was!

So this weekend I'm going to be designing a menu plan for next week.

Also, regarding Lent... I had originally planned to give up all animal products but I am going to modify it to allow fish. I just can't live without fish and my hair falls out if I don't get enough protein.

    Agree with all of the posts - having a stable and planned diet makes a lot of the stress about food go away.

    Menu planning just makes life so much easier to live. Knowing what I will be eating for the week allows me to not be so focused on food and just do what I had planned to do. I must admit that sometimes I encounter a curveball but it is comforting to know that I can easily get back on track.

    I would love to do that, but my wife is not wired the same way. It's hard for her to eat the same meal twice in a row or many times twice in a week. That makes it harder for me to meal plan on days she is off from work. But we are working on it more and more. I don't know if she'll ever be as boring as I am about food, but if we find a happy median, that will be good. ;-) Keep the faith, I know you can do it.

I feel so much more secure when I have my go-to menu posted on my fridge. I know exactly what to buy each week and when to prepare it. It takes all the pressure and anxiety away, and frees me up to focus on preparing healthy but higher calorie meals for my family.

    Good luck with your menu planning, and very good idea to eat fish. You do need protein in your diet to stay healthy, and fish is a good source...with some fish, you can also get your Omega fatty acids, too.

    I'd like to eventually make meal plans. I'm so unorganized and am the world's biggest procrastinator. I have to admit, I have been flying by the seat of my pants with my nutrition. I know I'll eventually get there...small steps, lol. I have to admit, I have to have protein too, I don't blame you! emoticon
