Plateau time...

Friday, February 22, 2013

I'm at 330 lbs right now but what I'm hoping that I can push past that and get into the 320's. I always end up hitting a plateau at that time. I don't know if it's something physical or emotional. I'm going to have to do more exercising. I'm just afraid that I will end up gaining trying so hard to do this. This is what has stopped me before. I will just have to try harder and work through whatever is holding me back from achieving my goal. Any tips or points would help. Thanks so much.

Maybe change your routine up a bit. Add in some strength training along with the cardio. You can do this! Don't give up! HUGS!

Some plateaus are emotion and some physical, as you mentioned. If it keeps happening at the same point, I recommend you give some thought to why it may be happening. On a practical level, you should analyze your reports and see if anything has changed (a little more food, a little less exercise can add up before you realize it). But also take a personal inventory and see if you can figure out this pattern. Good luck! emoticon

I did not lose weight for about 3 months. Another Spark member suggested tracking my food. I did and what a difference it made. If you follow the tracker you will know exactly how much food to eat. Read all the health articles, they really help you to understand what it takes to lose weight. It will not happen overnight and it may take a couple of years. But if you interact with everyone you will get a lot of encouragement to stay with your journey. You are off to a great start,

All I can say is ... Been there, done that. Hang in there. The plateaus will break. Hopefully you are not going on a severely reduced calorie intake. if you are, your body will move into starvation mode and do everything possible to store food.
