Journal of A Procrastinator

emoticon Keeping a journal is a good idea, whether it is on your computer or hand-written in an old-fashioned notebook. But what could the entries be if you happen to be a procrastinator?

emoticon This is Day One! I'm off to a good start. I have my Journal, and this is the first entry. Today I am taking my dog for a 30 minute walk. Later in the afternoon it will be gym time! I'm ready to get healthy and fit!

emoticon This morning it was raining when I got up, and I feel kind of sore from all the exercise I got yesterday. I think I'll use today as a "day of rest." They always say you should let your body rest in between strenuous work-outs.

emoticon I forgot to write anything down yesterday, so it's now Thursday. First of all, I will catch up on all the emails on my computer, and do my SP stuff...... then I'll do one of those exercise CD's!

Well...... my plans got changed this afternoon with my friend, Jeff, stopped by. We got to talking and watching old movies and he ordered a medium pizza, which we shared. Oh well, there is always tomorrow!

emoticon The sun is out today and it's Friday. I put on my emoticon and headed out the door. I called a friend to meet me at the tennis courts. That should give both of us some really good exercise.

We played for about 30 minutes, and then Susan sort of twisted her ankle, so we went into the cafeteria and had a reuben sandwich. Boy! I really lose those things! I passed on the French fries though, so I'm really learning to be a health nut.

emoticon Saturday morning is my weigh in morning! I couldn't believe it when the scale said I was UP 1.2 pounds! What good does it do to watch your food intake and work your butt off only to GAIN weight? Why do I even "try" to do this? It's hopeless.

emoticon emoticon emoticon OK, so I slipped a little bit today. I don't know what the big deal is? I saw skinny people in there eating hamburgers too! You can't eat like a rabbit for "every" meal you know.

I skipped the mayo on my hamburger................

I drank "diet" Coke instead of the good stuff...................

Well, some people don't lose weight -- even when they do everything right!

    Sounds like a typical week for all us dieters. That's the problem with journaling. I at least try to get on SparkPeople everyday, even when traveling. Keeping a journel would just not fit for me.

    this is why I don't do journal and also why I hate to count cals I have to write something down and I think I will do it later and it never gets done - that is why I do sparks in the each morning then it is done for the day

    Writing in a journal is fine if you can keep it up (more often than once every two weeks or months). I haven't been able to do more than write my name before an attack of Writer's Block leaves me in its dust. emoticon

    Well. you started off to a great start. You are brave sharing in detail about your eating. i have learned that the skinny people have NOT over indulged in the food that you see them eating. So they can eat it and not gain weight. I have over indulged on that food or I would not be over weight . So, I have to tell my self, "If You Abuse, You Lose" I lose the right to eat the same food, because I allowed myself to eat too much of it or ate it and did not move my body to burn the calories up.
Also, when you start to exercise when you haven't in a while you will show weight gain, because of the fluid in the muscles from being used. Muscle weighs more than fat. So, you have to wait to let the fat lost caught up with the muscle gain.
I lost 3 lbs in the last two weeks by adding more activities and put more protein/fiber into my food plan. I went on a two day trip to the beach and over indulged in fried sea food in those days and gained two lbs. I did not do any exercising either. So, I can not eat the foods that I used to eat.
This week stayed with my food plan and got my exercising in and I lost 1 lb of the 2 lbs. gained. I am not going to give up. Also, I think even when I travel I will be sticking to my food plan. It had been almost a year since I had eaten any fried foods and now I know that I just can NOT allow myself to eat it. I have been eating nice foods and not going hungry, but it has NOT been fried Sea Food platters.

DON"T GIVE UP!!!!

Just know that it is a life style change with healthy foods in it.

    It does go in the end, but it is hard when you plateau. I know - been there done that, and gained when I have apparently done everything right. Biggest thing is not giving in and eating oneself silly. Have a great weekend. emoticon

    Great blog.. yes you can indulge now and then but skinny people make up for it later in the week. My DD is a skinny person - she eats like a trooper for a week and then isn't hungry for the next 2. She has trouble keeping weight on - a scary pattern when when was little but I got used to it as my dad was exactly the same.

    Slow and steady. Make the right choices and we get there. Our goal for each of us is different as well as where we began. I am glad to see that you are journalizing. it may payoff. Good luck and remember to stretch before playing tennis. Your tennis partner may be a candidate for sparkpeople. emoticon

    I like you thoughts on the skinny people can enjoy a hamburger. I like to eat as "normal" as I want to, I just count the calories. I may not be losing the weight, and my maintenance number is slowly climbing. I want to lose, but boy is fat stubborn when I enjoy my roast beef sandwich with mayonnaise every week! (Oh all right there are other indulgences of bad fats here and there) Just a little confession.

Even if you may do some procrastinating, it's good to write in a journal no matter how often!
