I love the postal service

Thursday, February 21, 2013

Um, yeah. That's sarcasm you hear. My phone rang at 3 today. It was my caseworker to do our review to continue our medical assistance. I knew I had a review coming up, but had no idea it was by phone, and certainly no clue it was today!

So, I told him that. He said "Well, we mailed you a notice with the date and time." My answer? "I don't doubt that, but the only notice I got was the one reminding me that it was coming up. I didn't get one with this appointment, but that's ok. As long as you don't need me to try to find any of my paperwork."

It turned out fine. Since we are self-employed, it uses our tax returns. This year's aren't due yet, and they already have last year's information. So all I had to do was answer a few questions. Have I changed jobs? No. Has Hubs changed jobs? No. Am I in school? No. Is Hubs in school? No, he's at work-he drives a truck (we already went over this. Twice). Is son in school? He better be. Has my child support income increased? (Are they kidding?!?) No.

Caseworker "I will send a signature page for you to sign and send back, then finish processing this." (Sign a signature page...what else would I do with it? Paint a landscape?) "Any questions?"

Me: "When will I know if our coverage is continued?"

Him: "I'm sorry, nothing changes for you. I just meant it will authorize then."

Gee, thanks for the HEART ATTACK!

About 5 minutes after I got off the phone, the mail came. 10 minutes after that, son came home from school and brought the mail in. Want to guess what was in the mail?

The notice telling me about todays appointment. And this was from a goverment agency?! And the postal service still couldn't get it here on time. Gotta love it.

On a less crabby note, I did do several hours of knitting today. So at least I burned some calories. And the rat slept in my son's room last night, so-even though I still woke up a few times during the night-I actually got some sleep! And my legs weren't as sore this morning. Guess where Leo is sleeping tonight?

Wow, that was quite a day for you, it's too bad your postal service takes so long to get mail to you, especially when it's as important as that piece of mail was for you. Happy to hear you slept better and your legs are not hurting you as much. My prayers are with you my friend...Praying each day gets easier for you. emoticon emoticon emoticon
