I have a rescue cat, Louise. She is 17 years old now and we have been together more than 15 yr.
When I got her, she had lived caged up at a no-kill shelter for over 8 months. Needless to say, she was skiddish at first. Now she thinks she is part dog. She greets me at the door when I come home and wags her tail. She sleeps at the foot of my bed. She never jumps up on counters or tables.
When I went from being a home owner to a renter 2 1/2 years ago, top on the list of 'musts' was that she was welcome, also.
