The Balancing Act

Thursday, February 21, 2013

The light bulb just lit up and it had the word BALANCE illuminated inside of it. Having your world in balance is so critical in losing and/or maintaining weight. This doesn't mean that you have to have your LIFE in order, it just means that you need to be conscious of what's going on around you and be able to manage the chaos (if there is any).

I've been pretty focused on a number of things in my life. I'm a single mom so most of my focus each days is just making sure my four year old is alive and well at the end of the day. We have school, gymnastics, dance and QUALITY TIME to keep us running throughout the week. I'm a full time student myself who returned to college after a number of years in order to propel myself forward. I work a full time job and a part time job and volunteer at church. Throw a significant other in to the mix who needs a little attention sometimes too. While it seems like a lot, I'd like to think that I handle it well... most days. But I have found that on the days that I'm off, something suffers and it's usually my health.

It's a priority to find the balance that I need. Some days I make all the right food choices but I am not productive at work or school. Some days I'm so stressed out about an assignment that I forget to eat.

Some people would say that I have too much on my plate, but I don't agree. I love having things to do and I'm lucky that every thing that I do, I love. It's a learning process and I'm learning to balance.

Wow, that's an amazing attitude. We all have to find what works for us. I'm just learning that slowing down and taking time to listen to myself helps in balancing and using food for food only and not for other reasons. Wonderful that you love what you do, and then often hard work is more rewarding and healthy than procatrinating at home. Keep it up!
