RUN and SNOW! (yea, it's a big deal 'round these parts)

Thursday, February 21, 2013

Heya guys! So, I haven't been blogging as much the last couple months, and that's probably because I haven't been doing as many consistent "healthy" things. I've been doing lots of FUN and HAPPY things, heh, and some healthy things. I AM feeling good that lately more "healthy" things have been happening: we've been going on those long bike rides, a few hikes,
Annnnndd: MONDAY I RAN! This *wasn't* a big deal in the past, considering I have done this 5 k downtown run 42 times now, BUT it *is* a big deal because I swear, I hadn't run in ... 2 months?
Man, I knew it would be hard. It's always hard basically starting over. My body didn't care that I had done it 42 other times, THIS time was *freaking hard*!!

I went with Lee (I'm debating calling him L from now on.. hmmm...) and our friend Jorge. Jorge, L, possibly this other friend Stef (not sure now, as Stef and Jorge just broke up...) are doing a "Zobie run" in march.
What is a Zombie run, you may be asking yourself. Good question! Basically, its a 5k obstacle course, muddy, WITH PEOPLE DRESSED UP AS ZOMBIES trying to snatch your three life flags off. ACK!
I'm seriously not sure how I got talked into this, but here we are. I think I'd be scared of a REGULAR five k mud run, for the record.

SO, yeah, the consensus is we need to start getting in SHAPE ! OH MAN!

The running Monday felt so hard for me. It was a serious struggle. Jorge ended up kind of running ahead, but L didn't. At first I was kind of annoyed by this, I offered that they should just run at a faster pace and we'd meet a the end, but L said, that won't fly a the zombie run, we stay together to stay alive! I was kind of annoyed since it was just the first run and I knew I'd just be so slow and struggling, but later, when I WAS struggling and dying him by my side silently running at my pace was really nice. I know I would have stopped like four times where he not there.

So, in the end, I managed to run the 5 k the whole way through. YAY! I was mega sore the next day, I think cumulative from the 16 mile biking Sunday and the running Monday, so I wanted to rest.

Then, yesterday, guess what: SNOW! Whoa!! In Tucson, that is not normal. And, snow that STICKS? Almost never! But, then, shockingly, when the sun set the snow started again and it STUCK!! I definitely did not go running last night in THAT. :)

Still haven't done anything with that chicken carcass, cause, I'm lazy. But I'm gonna asap, i swear.

So-- did you get to do anything with the chicken, or did it end up as zombie fodder?

How did you recover from your marathon of running/biking craziness? Running a 5k is no small feat.... I wouldn't be able to do it myself without some proper training....

That Chicken Carcass sounds gross. LOL Make your soup quickly :)

As for the running, I agree... running is HARD, especially when you aren't used to it. Your body does get used to it, but give it time!

That Zombie run sounds intense! I HATE being chased, so I immediately freaked out when I read that part of the run! Eeeek!!!
