It may be a bit confusing because day 2 of my healthy eating streak was actually yesterday. But I've had too many fails late at night to be comfortable counting a day as done until I've actually gone to bed.
Today is a new day - one I plan to have as day 3 on my healthy eating streak. I laid in some more fruit and veggie supplies yesterday to help me achieve that.
So today's plans:
Breakfast - 2 eggs, 4 oz. green smoothie. If this looks familiar, it's because it is the tried and true.
Lunch - salad with protein - probably chicken but I have lots of healthy leftovers to play with.
Afternoon snack - not sure yet. I'm going to be out and about at the chiropractor etc. so I need to take something with me, I think. I also need to pack my glucometer so that I test before eating. I'm hoping that thinking this through now will make it happen later. (Plus I add to this blog throughout the day so I'll be reminded then.)
Dinner - Needs to be something with leftovers. I have salmon, chicken, roasted veggies, salad. Maybe if I add some tomatoes on the side. . . Just thinking out-loud here. I think I'll keep the dinner smoothie but I'm not sure.
Exercise will be Zumba of course. I wrote a formal letter to the Y on the problem we've had with teen bullies and it finally found it's way into one of the director's hands. And it is making a difference. At least it did last night. I hope that tonight is another fun and uneventful Zumba party!
My stupid hormones - my blood pressure has settled down. Yay! So I'm glad for that. No more chest pains either. But my higher blood sugars after exercise are maddening. And I'm not sure if I can just ignore it or if it is something I need to address. Adding some more ready sugar to my meal before exercise last night made no difference at all - didn't raise it and didn't lower it either from the previous night's level. In addition, my fasting blood sugar this morning was 121! I'm assuming that must be the dawn effect since my eating has been low carb and not excessive. I did have some protein before bed but I still got this reading. Bahhhh!
Lunch edit - Having my salad with protein (leftover chicken). I discovered that I do not have enough leftovers for dinner. My kids want carby potstickers and rice for dinner. So I'll make that for the family and those of us (me and possibly dh) can have the low carb leftovers. My 2 hour reading after breakfast is 101.
Afternoon snack edit: My 2 hour postprandial blood sugar reading after lunch was 107. Had mixed nuts with about a tablespoon of chocolate chips again for snack. I ate this in the car after my chiro. appointment. The chiro. confirmed what I already knew from my pain levels. I'm in a flare again. I just realized I had eggplant yesterday. I wonder if I'm affected by nightshades?
Dinner edit: Right before dinner my bloodsugar was 111. Dinner was a bit difficult, since I absolutely adore potstickers, but I had chicken, roasted veggies and fruit salad instead. Going to Zumba now.
Last edit: Woo hoo! For the first time, 2 hours post prandial, 1 hour post exercise, my blood sugar is 114! Woo hoo! I had two eggs for a snack. What I did differently tonight? I loaded up on water before exercise and instead of a smoothie, I had cut fruit. I wonder which made the difference?
