Feeling good but...

Thursday, February 21, 2013

the scale was mean to me this morning. up 1.5 pounds. After eating mostly The Plan for 4 days and getting down to 108.5 yesterday, I am now 110. But I feel good and that is most important to me. Not sure what I reacted to yesterday as I had chicken, sweet potato, chocolate, one beer, and my favorite salad dressing Newman's Low Fat Sesame Ginger dressing. I know the dressing has lots of salt. I love this science experiment. Now instead of me always blaming the over night weight gains on salt I can actually think that they are more food related and a food that my chemistry just doesn't agree with. So I get it! But I didn't do it right and test just one thing.....I went a little nuts as I had lady friends over and that's when I had a beer and one of the gals brought me a small sample box of homemade chocolates from a new shop in the village (I ate two pieces which is good for me as the old me would have eaten the whole box-8pieces)...then for dinner I had 5 ounces of chicken and a medium size sweet potato with the salad dressing. But heck I enjoyed every bite! That has been my only problem with The Plan in that I find I have a hard time eating all the food and enjoying it. I hate some of the foods like beets, chickpeas and not a big fan of broccoli. And you have to eat a ton of that stuff. Oh and the carrot soup gets old too. But I have learned so much and it really has gotten me to do some more research regarding diet and arthritis. I am really going to pay more attention to things now so that I can just feel great. Today we have another cocktail party and then tomorrow begins the Annual Chili Festival here which is a big 3 day party. One of our friends is in the Margarita competition so we will go tomorrow to support him. So lot's of things coming up to thrown things off for a while....the good news is that I know that I have this and will always get back on track. I do hope all my sparks buddies are having a great day.
Best wishes to all!
Sallie

Don't know what all you have in your carrot soup, but have you ever tried juicing? I do the carrots, apple and lemon, it is delicious and I never get tired of it. Just a thought. I use to love my beer in the summer, but I rarely have it anymore. My daughter has picked up the habit and has a beer about as often as you seem to, it always puts weight on her.

Glad you are feeling great! My blog today is about dealing with the scale. It is based on TinaJane's brilliant blog. Be sure to read it today, too. The link is in my blog, something like "How to Take the Emotions out of Weighing." I think it will really help me. Hope your experiment with The Plan gives you just the information you need to feel great and manage your weight. You know you are doing fantastically and look wonderful at 110. That you get under in order to allow for celebrations is great. And your discipline to get right back on when needed is commendable. Keep up the great work, Sallie!!

I can't think of a food that I truly hate although beef liver may come close. I did find that the foods I preferred to to pass over grew on me when I needed to eat them regularly. Broccoli, beets, and carrots were in that group, but I enjoy them now as well as brussel sprouts and cooked spinach. I hope you have the same experience. Still, if you truly hate a food, I'd say don't make yourself miserable forcing it down. There are always alternatives.

Sweet potato is more reactive than regular potato but I see a pattern here... it's the beer! Every time you have a beer (or two) you are up the next day... something to plan for :)
