So I went running for the first time in a couple months yesterday and it felt amazing. Not only did my knee not hurt at all but I was able to run a full 5k. This means that as long as my knee continues to not hurt I should be able to run the 5k at the beginning of March that I signed up for before I had to stop running. I am super excited about this and now just need to be careful not to get too overzealous about the running and stick to my plan of doing the elliptical/strength training every other day rather than running everyday. This could be difficult as i find it hard to make myself workout inside when I have the ability to be outside. This afternoon I plan on doing the elliptical and some strength training.
Food wise I was also really good yesterday. I was able to stay within my calorie range and still feel full by eating a health lunch and breakfast and avoiding too many snacks.
Overall I'm feeling really good about my plan right now and can't wait to keep going with it.
Oh and for anyone interested I am planning on loosely following this training plan for Shape.com for my half-marathon training but maybe moving slightly slower and doing cross-training three times a week with only one rest day instead of two.
