Diet Drinks Do Not Increase Appetite

Plenty of concerns here. The food intake was self reported which is always a red flag. But this wasn't necessarily a food based study and the weight stayed the same. Also, the study period was rather short.

"a clear trend: as coffee drinking increased, the risk of death decreased."

I haven't read the actual studies yet, but the articles were interesting enough.

I can't comment. I used to drink 20 to 30 cups of high-test every day but one time I noticed that I had a very high resting pulse rate, so I cut back to the cigarettes and coffee, and it went back down. There was a rumor that you could beat the draft by staying up all night, drinking coffee, and smoking. Since that was the way I was living I could probably have flunked the physical myself.

Now I drink a couple of pots of decaffeinated coffee every day (black) and it tastes fine to me.

The day my doctor told me to drink more coffee was a very happy day (I have low blood pressure, which results in occasional fainting spells). Seeing that there are other positive effects of coffee consumption is encouraging. I think I'll go put a pot on now!

I always enjoy having my habits validated.
