As I look out my window and see the birds at the bird feeders, I realized what the saying, "Eat like a bird", actually meant. Birds land on the feeder, take a few seeds or suet, and fly away. A little later on, they come back and repeat the same procedure. They do not sit there and gorge themselves until they are full like us humans do alot of times. Small bites, leave the feeder, come back for more small bites. Why do we as humans feel we need to shovel our food into our bodies as if it is our last meal ever? Many times I have read that you should take a bite, put your fork down, chew your food really well and then take another bite. This is what the birds are doing and they sure aren't starving. When we eat, we should think of ourselves as a small bird and enjoy our food one bite at a time.
