WELL MEANT ARE THE WOUNDS A FRIEND INFLICTS. PROVERBS 27:6

LORD, HELP ME TO BE WILLING TO RECEIVE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM FROM FRIENDS WHOM I KNOW ARE LOOKING OUT FOR MY BEST INTEREST. EVEN WHEN I FEEL PROTESTS RISING UP INSIDE OF ME, HELP ME TO HEAR THEM OUT AND TO RECEIVE THEIR WORKS WITH GRACE, GIVING CAREFUL CONSIDERATION TO WHAT HAS BEEN SAID BEFORE RESPONDING. IF THEY HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD ME IN SOME WAY, HELP ME NOT TO TAKE OFFENSE. IF WE SIMPLY CANNOT AGREE, PRESERVE OUR FRIENDSHIP WITH THE LOVE YOU HAVE GIVEN US FOR EACH OTHER.

A TRUE FRIEND LOVES YOU ENOUGH TO SUPPORT YOU AND TO CONFRONT YOU.

Love covers a multitude of sins! May our words always be with grace for grace is always greater than all our sins.

Amen. I endeavor to receive wounds as coming from Christ himself and remember our afflictions are very light indeed.

Yes, I agree. It is hard to be misunderstood, especially from those we dearly love. I thank God He gives us grace to remain calm and patiently explain our position/what we meant (for example), until the rift is smoothed. When this is not possible, I revert to the Bible verse teaching that we "live as peaceably as we can" with all men. Then to pray and to leave it in God's hands is all I can do. There are times when I am/was in the wrong and my motives are/were unkind too, and that is hardest of all...to say I was wrong and I am sorry. God alone can give grace for this as well. Where would we be...what manner of persons would we be...if God did not enable us to forgive and forget, and to ask forgiveness? I pray that God will not allow my heart to harden.

Thank you Joanie...a needful lesson indeed. Joanie

A good lesson for me! I don't accept constructive criticism well and am easily offended... something I have to work on.

A divine lesson we all need at times. Lord, indeed, cause us to understand and forgive when we are misunderstood. Amen
