Caregiving gives me energy to face the day

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

My life is a busy one built on caregiving. My journey at times is overwhelming but God must have a reason for I'm the chosen one to keep going. I've worried at times...what if something happens to me? Disabled son living with me,husband dealing with stage 4 cancer...I almost feel at times my daily goal is to just keep the wheels turning. One reason I joined the Spark site after ending up in the ER with blood pressure problems. I need to function and work on me if I am to keep being a caregiver. Always wanted to be a nurse,so here I am. No longer just a mom and wife but a new me has taken over.
Waking up every morning feeling healthier is giving me the boost to care with love and laughter and that in fact breathes new energy into me. I am reaching my own expectations now. Wish me luck..

I, too, am a caregiver. My mom is 83 with dementia and the days are sometimes long and difficult. I have found the uplifting and the shared stories here on SP really help keep me focused on caring for me as well. Have an amazing husband who helps with Mama when she is resistant to me. God is good everyday!

Good out look. You are so right so take care of your self so you can be the care giver you want to be. I am praying for your husband and for you to have the strength to do what you need to do to be a care giver.

First, let me say that I pray for your husband's complete healing and recovery. I applaud your commitment to care for your family.

I also pray for you. Taking care of loved ones can almost be as difficult as being the patient sometimes. May God give you strength, comfort and grace as you begin to make healthy changes and choices, in order to better care for your husband and son.
