Usually I take my lunch to work with me, but on Wednesdays I eat lunch with my husband. We both really enjoy that little extra bit of time together. Today we went to a local place that we love. I got salad with balsamic dressing on the side. I dipped into the salad dressing but I still think that I ate a lot. I tried to estimate how much and I guessed four tablespoons. I am not a huge dressing fan to be honest but I do like the balsamic at this particular place. Usually I use about a teaspoon of dressing but it was quite apparent today that i ate a lot more than that. Of course I have no clue what the nutritional values are for this salad dressing so I had to guess, and on top of that I was guessing about the portion size too. So now I am at the end of my day, and I think that I did not do so well nutritionally. I ate at the [very] low end of my calorie range, but I did not get enough carbs or protein! And I got too much fat (from that salad dressing). So I am led to wonder, how did I really do? Someone told me that those ramekins with salad dressing only hold two tablespoons. If I overestimated the salad dressing (portion or calories) then I might not have gotten enough calories. If I underestimated, I am certain that I didn't go over on calories, but I already didn't get enough carbs and protein and that would probably make it even worse. We used to eat out for just about each meal but we have cut way back on that and hardly do it at all anymore. We don't want to give it up completely but it sure is hard to calculate these things!
