Setting realistic goals

Being in a state of "retirement" leaves me a lot of latitude concerning my schedule. It is easy to become focused on doing things and forget about "living". I do enjoy doing the things that we are encouraged to do on a daily basis here at Spark People. Yet I find it easy to make it about "doing" instead of "living". So, it is important for me to re-evaluate my goals on a regular basis in order to avoid that sort of pitfall. I spent enough of my life chasing the top of the pile. Now I want to savor the essence of today. That is realistic for me now.

    I'm still searching for your zen mind set. I haven't really let go of the career drive/stress that's rattling around inside even though I got out of the game almost a decade ago. I need to harness that wasted energy and apply it to my current goals. Retirement flexibility has led to wrong eating, bad habits and guilty aftermaths for me. I'm putting more structure back into my life as a tool to get me back on track.

Savor the essence of today - that's the very best goal. I need to start thinking like that. I just happened to run across your blog; I'm so glad I did. Thank you.
