I gained .8 - I'm a little disappointed, but I did have a long weekend and some bad choices. I'm back at it with the tracking, so no worries!
Since I signed up for my first 5K race since May of last year, I decided yesterday to try running a 5K and see how it goes. I've really only been doing "timed" runs and not really keeping up with distance. I dropped DD#1 off at work, picked up DD#2 up from a "study session" with friends and went to the park. DD#2 wanted to run on the "hills" and I wanted to run on the greenway (which is the location of the 5K on Saturday). I dropped her off at the gym to change and then she was going to run and then go back in the gym to shoot some baskets. DH was already on the greenway running and DD#3 was riding her bike.
I'm really pleased with my time. I did the 3.1 miles in 38:09. I was hoping for anything under 40 mins.! I ran 20 mins. straight and that was a struggle. DD#2 started texting me that the gym was reserved and she was going to walk to the greenway and DD#3 kept circling me with her bike, so I think they slowed me down a little!
I feel ready for the race on Saturday. I'm still hoping for anything under 40 mins. because I usually get kind of "psyched out" during races. I think I try to keep up with everyone at the beginning and can't get a good pace. My time always seems a little slower than what I'm currently running.
I'm going to do a work-out DVD tonight and then run tomorrow with DD#2. We'll probably have to run on the indoor track because it's supposed to start raining and we probably won't be able to go until after 5:30, so it might get dark on us. It's supposed to rain Thur-Sat afternoon, so the race will probably be wet. I blew this same race off last year because of rain!
