I just couldn't wait to weigh in...

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

That's right, I just couldn't wait until March 1st to weigh in. After yesterday with what happened to me with a classmate (she had approached me and asked if we wanted to study together because 'us fat chicks gotta stick together') I realized that yes, I may be overweight, but at least I'm doing something about it. I cut out the soda and I drink more water, and I'm trying to eat right, and I'm researching and working out.

So, to prove to myself that I am actually doing something, I decided to make my weigh in days every Wednesday. I just couldn't wait, because every time I logged onto SparkPeople, it would say 'weight lost: 0' and that's just not motivational to me. I needed a number on it. So when I woke up this morning, I broke out that scale and weighed myself....

I lost 6.6 pounds since 2.9.13!!

I know, I know... it's probably all the water weigh and whatnot that I was retaining, but THAT'S OKAY. I have to start somewhere, and now I can work on getting rid of the fat that consumes me. Today I will be busting a groove to a Tae-Bo video. Rock on!

"Us fat chicks gotta stay together"??!!??!!?? Seriously? Who even says that out loud. Good for you for deciding that you are not numbers on a scale and that your health is worth it. I weigh in every day, but don't "count" the weight until it's my 1 week point. So, if you weigh in every Wednesday, weigh every day, but only officially count Wednesdays weight.

Weighing in every day will show you patterns. I know can tell when I've been eating too much processed food (i'll go up a few tenths of a pound) despite it being healthy, I'll see when I haven't had enough water to drink, etc. It helps me read my body and when I have that slightest idea that it's okay to cheat (and I'm not talking a small piece of chocolate....I'm talking like a whole pizza and then some) I see my daily progress and don't want to disrupt that. Just food for thought....and forget that lady. Sad sad sad.

Thank you guys for your support! And to specify- the woman who said that wonderful comment to me, is not my friend. I've said random words to her in class. I will be separating myself from her permanently lol

I agree a weekly weigh in is good - will help in motivation - and if it is not going the direction you desire you can work on a new life style approach sooner.

It is sad that your friend feels her weight describes who she is. You did the right thing to weigh. I'm proud of you for your weight loss. Be yourself and keep sparking
