New goals?

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

Feeling oh so frustrated. It seems like my life is not my own lately. Family responsibilities seem to keep taking over my fitness time. Cooking meals, transportation for others, dance classes, homework assistance, etc.

Maybe my fitness goals were not realistic. (Getting to the fitness center every day.) Big sigh here. As much as that's what I WANT to do, I suppose I should revise to something more achievable like doing SOMETHING every day. The Sparkpeople fitness videos are seeming more and more perfect for me every day. New goal? Spark fitness video 5 days a week. Sadly the fitness center is gong to have to be a "treat" for me for now.

I love getting to the gym, but what's helped me the most was doing an intense 20 minute circuit style workout at home every day. I was doing the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels.

It's hard to workout every day. I work at home so I find the time to workout much easier than someone who works outside of the home. And in the evenings I have no guilt over leaving my kids because I'm with them during the day.

Have you tried out a YMCA for the kids activities? While my boys are in swimming lessons I'm busting my butt on a treadmill. Have you tried swapping workout time with hubby? I watch the kids at the play area while he works out and he watches them while I workout.

I hate to hear your first goal isn't working out, but it's good to see you're being flexible and adjusting where you need to so you can still make fitness happen!

I am loving the SP videos, and they're free - yeaaaaahhh! Be sure to check your local library for workout DVD's too - it's a great way to change things up. Also, throw in some walking - when DS was young enough to need me to drive him to music lessons I would drop him at his lesson, park the car and walk for the half hour he was in with his guitar teacher.

You can do this! Just stay positive and look for all the ways you can get the results you want! And do be sure to treat yourself to a trip to the fitness center at least once a week - you deserve some serious ME time!
