So I entered the challenge, but it's not quite what I had expected. I thought it would help me learn to eat sweets in moderation, but it seems to be working toward expelling sugar from my diet. I did a total sugar (and substitute) fast for about 10 days a few weeks back, so I know I'm not completely addicted to sugar, and can stop when I need to. But the tricks this challenge offers for keeping my sugar intake under control just aren't helping me. For instance, when I crave chocolate but try to stave off the craving by eating fruit, I still crave the chocolate. Fruit just doesn't satisfy me unless I am craving fruit. So. I think I'll keep following the challenge just to see if it offers anything helpful in the last week (I'm on week 3 out of 4), but I think I'll just have to resort to good ol' willpower when I need to say "no" to sweets. And I can! I said "no" to coffee cake (which I love) earlier this week. But I've been craving chocolate chip cookies for about a month (talk about a long-standing craving!), so I've got butter softening on the counter right now to make a batch. I will indulge - but in moderation. :) I'm not up to totally saying "no" to sugar - just to overindulging.
