Overcoming Adversity or Procrastination?

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

Adversity or Procrastination, one or the other kept me from my run training for a few guilt-stricken days. Oh, I know I hurt my ankle on Friday and so I *could* claim adversity was keeping me sedentary. But really? Really, I suspect I could have run yesterday but I didn't "feel" like it. I think I have to call that procrastination : )

Whichever it was, I overcame it today by shoveling snow for half an hour, dreadmilling for an hour and stretching for 2o minutes. Fitness Tracker likes me again and more to the point I like me again!

Thanks, GETSTRONGRRR for your blog yesterday. It gave me the kick in the pants I needed to get back to training for my April 10k.

Way to go. The best way to give in to procrastination is to put off procrastinating.

Some times you just need a break until you find your motivation again.
Glad you found yours.
Hope your 10K training goes well.

    Hey Ken,
I'm not guilty of procrastination when it comes to exercise. That would technically mean I am deferring the task. For me, it's more laziness, I can easily blow off a workout.

I am on a very short win streak, starting in mid December, I have been able to committ to 3 workouts a week. While 3 may be a bare minimum, one key for me has been to consume a stimulant 30-45 minutes pre workout. Could be a cup of coffee, or a supplement drink, but it provides the energy I need to go from the end of the workday to the home gym.

I remember the unfortunate circumstances surrounding last year's race, and I am rooting for you this time.
