I was hoping to come home from work today and find that Ron had started putting the ceiling tile up in the den. I got more than I bargained for. He has been shocking me by not working on the ceilings at all on the weekends (but doing other things such as this weekend working on his truck and boat and whining about ME needing to find HIS pix of his dad because he saw me working on something else) but he has been routinely finishing a room or more each week during the work week. Since he finished the dining room last night, I was hoping he would take it as a helpful thing that I moved all the stuff out of his way in the den (could only get his broken treadmill moved into the center of the room because we couldn't get it through the doorway to put in another room) and moved his ladder and tools into the den so it would all be ready. The thing with MY significant "other" is that he could just as easily take it that I am trying to push him into working and decide to not do anything.
Oh. He DID something alright. He did put up about ten tiles. It just took awhile for me to notice that because he had RIPPED the paneling down in shreds. Only about one to one and a half to two feet down. (Since it's all JAGGED rips.) And I LIKED that paneling too!!!! We had been talking about putting up the same paneling all through the house that we have in the cabin but it's funny how "Finish one project before you start another one" goes out the window when it's him doing it instead of him telling me how to do it. The BIG thing is that we won't have a weekend to work steadily on anything for another month. We will be going back to the cabin for the next two weekends and then I have my two concerts the following two weekends. I figured we would finish the den ceiling and be doing okay with what we have and then I was shocked with the jagged ripped paneling. LUCKILY, Zack told me the wall underneath the ripped up panels looked ok. Maybe I should finish pulling the paneling down. So now I have something to keep me busy. Just hoping I can make it look passable for the next month.
Other than that shock, it's been pretty fantastic today. Work has been great for awhile but on top of that, Zack might have more work. The lady I went to Augustana with happens to be the daughter of my very first boss. She and her then-husband were my second bosses when they took the store over. She is the one that talked me into going to nursing school with her, too. Sadly, her son has MS and is now having a much harder time and they are talking about having Zack do some private duty work for him working around his jobs work hours. He will probably be running by there before his other job and then going back after that job and possibly again at the end of the night and on weekends as needed. Who knows. Any work is good work. Also today, my hair blew down and looked pretty good so I started wearing my Joey Ramone look. All the girls were telling me how they loved my new haircut so it was pretty funny.
