Times like these when I'm finding every excuse to eat outside of my healthy choices, and finding it difficult to stay positive, I return to do some gentle mind stretches to get into a better place.
Does that sound corny? Oh well!
Take inventory - what is really bothering me?
Notice the good things, not just the wrong things... in myself, in others. It's too easy to get into a cycle of being critical.
Be kind to people. They are sometimes kind back.
Don't dismiss compliments (I should do this all the time, and I usually don't have to focus so hard on making sure that I'm accepting compliments, but.. healthy habits sometimes take conscious thought.)
Find beauty in something.
Find a retreat.
Get enough sleep (to help refresh the mind). I've been struggling with sleeping well while being asleep, and find that I'm having trouble getting up in the morning.
No recipe is perfect, so I'll just keep stretching myself in these ways until they get easier and easier, my mind more flexible, and stronger.
