Happiness Stretches

Times like these when I'm finding every excuse to eat outside of my healthy choices, and finding it difficult to stay positive, I return to do some gentle mind stretches to get into a better place.

Does that sound corny? Oh well!

emoticon Take inventory - what is really bothering me?

emoticonNotice the good things, not just the wrong things... in myself, in others. It's too easy to get into a cycle of being critical.

emoticonBe kind to people. They are sometimes kind back.

emoticonDon't dismiss compliments (I should do this all the time, and I usually don't have to focus so hard on making sure that I'm accepting compliments, but.. healthy habits sometimes take conscious thought.)

emoticonFind beauty in something.

emoticonAppreciate people.

emoticonEnjoy music.

emoticonFind a retreat.

emoticonGet enough sleep (to help refresh the mind). I've been struggling with sleeping well while being asleep, and find that I'm having trouble getting up in the morning.

No recipe is perfect, so I'll just keep stretching myself in these ways until they get easier and easier, my mind more flexible, and stronger.

    This is actually very helpful. I must admit I almost never rethink what I put in my mouth good or bad, mostly bad. I will use this , for sure.

    I downloaded that Superbetter app that you told me about. I tried it out yesterday for the first time, and I was surprised to find that I felt better! Duh, I guess. But it felt good to take a few minutes to focus on little goofy things - and it really improved my mindset. Thanks for the tip! And maybe you can feel superbetter soon, too!

    Keep a jar of good stuff. Just, write things down and throw them in there. Haul them out when you're feeling down or out of sorts.
