The Fifth Third Bank Too Good For Drugs Jr. Gasparilla Distance Classic Kids Event
Saturday, February 16, 2013

DSSECRETS & I thought this event would be a perfect breakout run event for our Granddaughter, Gianna. It had everything that you would experience in a normal run event but was all about the kids with a great message!

Here's the link to the event so you can see the concept.

It was Race Running 101 for Kids! I can't say enough about the effort made by the Gasparilla Distance Classic Association and all the volunteers! I know I will support and run in the Gasparilla Distance Classic as long as I can run!

Race Check-in & Packet Pick-up.

Of course, we took Gianna over to look at the finish line!

T-Bone got the runners together to show proper race warmup!

He chose Gianna first to show off her dance moves!

She's as shy as her Pops!

Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn welcomed the kids to the run!

He was truly great with them and they had fun!

We had time after so Gianna socialized with...

The Triathlon Team Psych Pirate who gave her a new tattoo!

The Ladies from Tampa's own Krewe of Alegria!

Of course, we had to see the booty to be had from this event!

Yes, we are Pirate Country!

Last photo op before the run!

At the starting line!

Mommy saw this and said Gianna's look said, "I have to run how far?"

When the runners took off, the moms, dads, grandparents, and friends dashed across the stadium infield to catch them at the finish line. It was hilarious! Yeah, I was one of them.

It was worth it to catch Gianna coming down the home stretch!

Look at my baby go! She told me she saw the finish line and went for it! As I took that photo, I teared up!

You runners know the drill! You cross the finish line, they put the medal on you,

and you're on top of the world! Here, I was a friggin' mess and couldn't stop the tears!

Finally, Gianna's medal pose!

Every run that Gianna does is more important to GrandmaDarren & Pops than all of theirs' combined! More importantly, it's just seeing her smile! She inspires us beyond boundaries! We are truly blessed!
