I have made the decision to begin to establish a healthy level of self-esteem and I acknowledge the concomitant changes in behaviors and discipline that decision entails. This will be a slow process. I know I have been attempting to do this all my adult life. Understand that I am trying to learn to believe in myself, and that I need you to try to learn to believe in me as well.

I wanted to come up with a formal statement that I could put before my family (my partner) - sort of like earnest money in a real estate deal - that would let them know that my decision to become healthy was a serious commitment, not like those other gym memberships and "diets." Then it occurred to me that the only way my earnestness could be evidenced would be by my own behavior, rather than by any words.

So, I printed THE CONTRACT and I read it every morning. I'm not even asking myself to sign it yet.

If you aren't looking for a quick fix, then don't ask for one.

I like it. It's very self-affirming, no shilly-shally just strong and to the point. I also like the fact you read it every morning and I think that would help.

I don't why this thought just occurred to me but have you done any paintings/drawings of what the journey means to you (probably not saying it right)--for someone with your lovely talent I'd think your art would help with that self-affirmation, too. I know it can be a very personal thing--don't want to intrude.

You can and you will do it. I think that you are very ready and more than willing. I need a contract too and the courage to sign it. You will inspire me!

Count me in. I believe in you. You will do this because the reasons you want to are such good reasons. How can you not?
