As part of our plan for my husband to retire in June and move to Tennessee, we have been doing things to put our condo in Illinois on the market. Last weekend, my husband and I rented a 10 foot truck to move boxes of "stuff" from Illinois toTennessee. We completely filled the truck with "stuff". Mind you, almost no furniture was moved because we are going to stage our condo with the furniture when we put it on the market in a few weeks. It was all STUFF!!
I tried and tried to toss out or give away as much "stuff" as possible before I packed it up. I know better than to move stuff I don't need. Even so, we still had lots of things to move. I'm going down next week to unpack the boxes and put things away. I have a feeling that in spite of my efforts to cull things out before packing, there will be some things that don't make the cut when it's time to put stuff away.
It's amazing how much stuff we have carted off to local charities in the past year, yet there is still more to be done.
Planning on doing a self-supported bicycle tour has really given me a whole new perspective on how little we actually need to live over the course of a year.
Every time I take a load of things to charity, I feel a sense of relief....it's just that much less that I have to care for.
