How are we doing?

"Malice must be banished from your tongue,
Deceitful conversation from your lips.
Never yield to evil, practice good,
Seek peace, pursue it." (Ps. 34: 13-14)

Lent is a good time to ask ourselves some hard questions:

Do I avoid all criticism and negative comments?
Do I always speak the truth?
Do I fall into bad habits?
Am I a peacemaker - in my home, at work, in the neighborhood?

I'll bet we all find areas where we can improve!!

We are nearly a week into Lent... a good time for a check-up on how we are doing with our resolutions....

And a good time to make sure that we are not only trying to improve ourselves, but are reaching out to others in some way.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week. And let's not forget to pray for each other!

    This reminds me of one of the readings that my husband and I used at our wedding (and a set of values we apply as best we can in every day life):

Phillipians 4:4-9

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

This always reminds me to treat people with kindness, love, and compassion, and hopefully to hold my judgement (more difficult than I'd like!)

    Thanks again. I appreciate it when others reach out to me, so reaching out to others during Lent is a goal I can work at.
