Great dialog between my mind and myself, uninterrupted by commercials and completely free. I've had these talks hundreds of times.

MY MIND:
"Good Morning Dave, Lately I have asked you to be more open in your reception of awesomeness around you and most of all within yourself. You were asked to be there for yourself and your family and change your outlook on how you go about this whole weight loss thing this time. Have you made any progress?

ME:
"Yes, I have master. I have realized many things yesterday and today. May I share them?"

MM:
"Please do."

ME:
"I have realized that my mind is very busy and active and that I can appropriately make choices. I can make choices that are healthy and progressive. I also make choices that I have never made before. The unprecedented choices are transforming my mind and outlook. I almost expect to wake up every day and proceed confidently and successfully. Mainly from the standpoint of my health and weight."

MM:
"What about your patience with yourself, others and your inner talk? There were so many things you were concerned about - have you sorted any of those things out?"

ME:
"I am doing this and being mindful master. I am being very conscious about my decisions and how I respond to others, my self talk and also have (thankfully) begun to squash the negative talking demons around us."

MM:
"What are some of your challenges?"

ME:
"Where shall I start?"

MM:
"You can start with killing the sarcasm..."

ME:
"Sorry, it slipped master."

MM:
"No worries Dave, carry on..."

ME:
"Well, I had a great night last night. The demons of Carbville seem to circle me around 10PM each night. I never know how to defend myself from them. I've tried the Hydration Technique that I've heard about; I've tried FiberDefense blasting with my Psyllium Blaster. None of these work and the Carbos seem to win over my true desire which is to keep the spirit inside safe and unspiked by sugar. Last night I heard the Carbos approaching my domain at 10:15. I prepared the the attack by preparing a Cultured Cheese of the Cottage type, some cashews and prepared 1 cup of milk. I defended myself with these weapons and the Carbos were slayed.

MM:
"So you used the Protein mechanism to ward off the Carbos! EXCELLENT my son. Way to kill those snack sharks..."

ME:
"Yes I did"

MM:
"Wax on wax off young Dave..."

ME:
"I thought that was from Karate Kid, master?"

MM:
"Ehem. It is. Isn't that public domain by now?"...Anyway, go on."

ME:
Some other things I've noticed are:

What I tend to put out to the world seems to come back with the same inflection - If I send out coolness and goodness, then that somehow seems to make its way back to me. In my daily interactions, in my observations and most of all, my mind's deciphering of events. In other words, goodness sent out and so shall I receive.

I also noticed that I wake up every morning very clear and happy. I don't dread my day as I used to.

I am more flexible and willing to take 'chances' in my workouts. In other words, although my knee hurts, I work through it, distract my mind with the TV or music when working out.

I have taken more initiative to pick up things that I've left for others or have asked for assistance. My limitations are slowly but surely progressing into abilitations - ability to do them. It is hard and I have to constantly remind myself to push through the pain and frustration, but I have been doing it.

MM:
"Dave, so would you say that these past few weeks were successful?"

ME:
"Success is not for me to determine, but rather I am looking for progress and consistency in my FEELINGS. During the past few weeks, I have been thinking differently, have been motivated and have enjoyed my new mind. So if now was the 'end', then yes, it was a success."

MM:
"So if you wanted to continue the past behaviors and perhaps experience even higher levels of happiness, what do you think you need to do?"

ME:
"The same exact things and adjust accordingly as my mind adapts?"

MM:
"Correct. Your mind like your body will adapt and may become unchanged. Always confront your mind, body and world with challenges. New exercise programs, recipes, activities, the options are limitless."

ME:
"Signing up for the color run TODAY for Ft. Laduerdale. I have always just wanted to be with people that do things like this but was unable to walk or do it."

MM:
"Enjoy yourself training and preparing for this exciting time Dave. I'll be there with you all the way.."

ME:
"Thanks for being there buddy."

MM:
"i always got your back but remember YOU are the one who ultimately decides and executes what we do. When you think you are doing well and at times when you need support, seek me; I am always with you and can guide you only if you are open to my guidance. Remember that the snack sharks, your negative talk and other saboteurs are always ready to pounce on you during times of weakness - stay strong and unite with me."

The mind is the most powerful muscle in our whole body. If we harness that nothing can hold us back!

Dave, you have an interesting way of communicating what is going on around you, your mindset, I think it's pretty cool myself. We all have to deal with our problems and bringing them into the light is the best way to confront these problems. You have been doing a great job of tackling your issues head on, I applaud that. Just remember that slip ups and back slides are always a possibility, but those things are not a reflection of who you are or of how strong you are. So keep up the good work as best as you can!
