Wave Runner Intro / Wk 1 Challenge

Hello, hello!

I joined the Done Girls challenge for spring/summer. It's been awhile since I've participated in one, so I'm on a new team: the Wave Runners! I'm super excited to do another challenge... it'll help keep me accountable and encouraged. Just what I need right now!

So... here we go.

I'm Kristin. I just turned twenty three and I'm a photographer in Northern KY / Cincinnati, Ohio. I'm single, but have a big family. I'm the second oldest of five kids and we have a 9 yr old german shepherd/lab named Marshall. He's cute but a little sassy. :)

I'm on the far right... these are all but one of my siblings (the other sister was taking the photo) // me the other day in the snow! :)


I started my health/fitness journey in 2010. I had never really tried to be healthier... it didn't seem like food choices were in my control and I was so out of shape I just thought I wasn't athletic enough to do much. That year was when I realized that I wanted to change... I found SparkPeople and I started trying.

I began with 10 minutes of the cardio kickboxing video from Coach Nicole. I huffed and puffed and barely made it halfway the first time I tried it. But I stuck with it, and started to improve. From there, I began to use the Wii Fit and EA Sports Active on the Wii, went for long walks, and tracked all my food. About a year went by and I found myself 50 lbs smaller and feeling great.

My goal weight is still about 45 lbs away. There have been times I haven't stayed motivated and I gained back about 20 lbs. But I'm ready to get to the healthy range of weight for a woman of my height and I'm super thrilled to have a challenge to help me get there!!

My favorite workouts: cardio kickboxing, kettlebell training, C25K running, yoga, and Zumba via YouTube.

My goals for this challenge: get to the 160s and make it into size 6 jeans! Also to run a 5K by the end of the challenge! I've got my work cut out for me! Let's do it.

BONUS: This week's bonus challenge is to figure out our percentage of body weight. IF I did this properly at the test site... my result was 33.90% body fat / 66.45 lbs of body fat, which makes my lean body weight 129.55 lbs. From what I understand, I need to be in the 21-24% body fat range to be in a healthy range. Like I said, I've got my work cut out for me!

PS: For everyone else, I got the flu AGAIN. It knocked me out for a full week and some change. But today I hopped back on my horse and started moving. I did some kettlebell exercises and 20 minutes of yoga (which felt soooo good. It'd been too long since I'd last really stretched!!) and I'm hoping to start weigh in, morning yoga and the C25K program again tomorrow morning.

  Sounds like you have set some really great goals for yourself - we have a lot in common! I too am hoping to run a 5k by the end of this challenge! Good luck fellow wave runner emoticon
