Friday night was bad movie night - already covered that.
Saturday I walked, met Jonah for coffee, did a couple of hours of reading/research, and went first to our friend's Chili Cook Off, where we got to try a few of the 11 entries into the contest. I had a tablespoon of about 5 different kinds. YUM!!!! And we got to see a bunch of our friends for a couple of hours.
Then we were off to another friend's game night. There were at least twenty women there. We knew about 1/3 of them. Maura played poker most of the evening and I played Trivial Pursuit. Very weird to have to keep remembering that the version came out in the late 80s - therefore, all of the answers had to at least have been born by then. :-D
I didn't break any of the rules - even though there was a huge triple layer dark chocolate cake, tons of cookies and chips and dips, and all other manner of sweet and/or fried stuff. I probably could have had a few less of the baked cheesy crackers, but I did have a bunch of fruit too.
Yesterday I did four miles with Linda in the driving wind - thinking in the range of about 20 mph. And it was COLD with the wind - in the 20s. After that I had to be an episode of the Mod Squad to shower, get dressed, pull my stuff together, run out the door, get coffee, and drive to Leesburg to meet Stacy for our venue checking out outing. Had to get gas too. Met Stacy later than planned, but had a nice drive and visit on the way to Frederick.
We made it to the Dublin Roasters www.dublinroasterscoffee
, where we checked out the facility and met with the owner. Really nice place and we're looking forward to planning a couple of events there - dancing and/or karaoke. In discussion with the owner, discovered that she also brews grains for some local breweries. So of course, we had to go test that out too. :)
We were directed to Brewer's Alley www.brewers-alley.com/
in lovely old town Frederick, MD . Great food, great atmosphere, fun people, and really good service - and of course the beautiful stout, Brewed Awakening. :) Split food with Stacy that included some fried - but stayed within calorie limits for the day easily - because with all of the running around, that was breakfast.
BEST news of the day - that I can talk about - I have a friend whose knees are one move away from needing to be replaced. She has bone on bone, no cartilage, and has barely been able to walk for a long time. She found a woman who does myofascial release therapy - and after a couple of treatments, she can do a deep knee bends - NO PAIN. I got a card and have made an appointment to see if she can help me work some of the issues out of my hamstrings and knees. My issues are in no way as acute as my friend's, so I'm actually hoping for what I will consider a miracle. Appointment tomorrow afternoon. Fingers crossed!!!
