My Upward Spiral!

Monday, February 18, 2013

I have been reading The Spark for the past few days. While I was reading the section about upward and downward spirals, I thought to myself, "I wish I would experience a spiral."

Well, the time has come. I have been focusing on exercise. I have started exercise programs in the past and usually gave up within a week. This time has been different. I started shortly after the first of the year and only missed one week when I had the flu. I have noticed that I look forward to my brief exercise sessions every day and I plan for them.

Today I had a real breakthrough. My husband has been an avid exerciser for years. I have never been able to jump on the band wagon. I also have never been able to exercise in front of him. We have been married for 22 years and I have never exercised with him!! Until today. He was using his weight machine and I needed to use the elliptical. In the past, I would wait for him to finish before I started. Today I simply walked in and hopped on the elliptical and did my 12 minute workout. My streak of daily exercise has given me the confidence to exercise with the person who knows me best. It was fun and I hope we do it again--soon! emoticon

Confidence is a gift! Great job, having the opportunity to work out with your spouse/partner is a great thing. Pulling together in the same direction towards fitness is awesome! emoticon

That's a great breatkthrough and will make exercising even more fun. The times my husband and I can work out together are great and make the time go so fast. I just wish we could work out together more often. I'm sure you'll find that you can do more and longer because you have a buddy. Lots of luck and congrats!
