Race day approaches. I can now say it is officially less than one month away....
Over the weekend, my husband said I should go ahead and register and reserve a room. The park is only about an hour away, but since the race starts at 8am, I want to stay there. Plus, they have awesome cabins, and it will double as my birthday celebration. So, we're going to rent a cabin.
I've come to terms with the fact that I will not run the whole race - I will probably do something more like run 2 minutes, walk 1. But that will be just fine. I will complete it. Maybe if I decide to do another one in the fall, I'll be able to run the whole time.
This weekend, I ran Saturday, but only for about 45 minutes. I finally got new shoes! Whooohoooo...but didn't want my first run in them to be my long run, which was supposed to be 9 miles. So...the plan is to do it today.
Now, I have plans to take my daughter to test drive some cars. She has really had a rough time lately, and we are trying to help her shop carefully and make a good decision. I'm glad to do it, but it means there won't be time for a 9 miler today.
Instead, I'm going to do another one hour or so, and then try to make Wednesday a long run day. Next weekend, on Saturday, we are going to the park so I can check out the trail. Knowing what to expect will really help me mentally prepare.
I am still doing a little better with the food. Avoiding wheat, trying to cook most of my meals at home, eating breakfast, getting in lots of fruits and veggies (though there is still room for plenty more).
Since my afternoon just got totally rearranged, I better go take care of some work! Hope you are all having a wonderful Monday!
