Everything happening at once

Monday, February 18, 2013

We're home after a memorable trip to a fantastic place - Marrakech. There were times when I wished I was back here in London but that didn't last. The traffic is horrendous as rules don't appear to exist on the roads - pedestrian crossings what are they??? Traffic lights apply. I noticed if you walk out onto a pedestrian crossing and the lights change you have to stand there & let the traffic go around you a bit scary at first till you get used to it. One of the positives is people appear to love their kids sitting with them & cuddling them even those feigning poverty & begging with a child in arms for affect have happy contented looking well fed kids. I did pass a negative judgement to myself and thought what a way to show your kids how to earn money!! On our first day my husband & I walked 10 miles wow no wonder my legs ached when I went to bed but I needed to do so for the food I put away. We were warned not to eat at the market place in the old town but as long as you eat food that comes straight out of the oven as in tagines you're fine. Otherwise prices can be as high as London as we discovered to our detriment. Highlight of the trip was seeing La Maisson de Marjorelle where Yves St Laurant lived and which has a great exhibition of some of his Berber influenced works embroideries, paintings, jewellery & clothes.
In due course I will post photos on here.

Whilst preparing for our break I had a funny feeling the holiday should have been postponed for another time but did I listen to my intuition no! Because early this morning I had the dreaded phone call from my daughter to say our Mother had died so I have to go and won't be available on here for a while. Our house is in turmoil due to work being done on it everything happens at once. Our Mother had a great and long life she would have been 98 in Sept bless her I've lived so long away from my family and am happy I spent time with her last year. I'm now heeding her advice and example to keep my body fit and healthy.

What a wonderful trip! I'm so sorry about your mother though, but as you say, it sounds like she had a long and happy and healthy life and set a great example for you. Bless you and your family as you find peace, and what a beautiful way to remember her - taking her advice of leading a healthy life to heart. Take care of yourself.

I'm so sorry, I'm glad that she lived a long and awesome life. My grandmother will be 100 in August if she makes it that far.
