One... moar... sleep...

Until MY BIRTHDAY! And my last day in this seemingly unending streak of finishing training and working the new schedule! All I want for my birthday is to SLEEP IN TUESDAY!

So about my birthday... I do tend to make a biggish deal out of it. Birthdays used to SUUUCK because I grew up super poor and my parents couldn't afford to do much other than bake a cake and have my cousins over. And eventually, even OTHER people's birthdays began to suck, because my closest cousin had relatives who weren't broke, and so he got SHOWERED with gifts and huge parties, which, as an adult, I can see was totally more affordable and manageable in Winnipeg in JULY for his bday instead of figuring out something to do INDOORS in FEB for mine. But still, at the time, it stung. By the time I was about 8 or 9, if a friend invited me to THEIR bday party, I had learned to have a commitment to see my grandparents or something, because we couldn't afford any kind of half-decent gift, and kids are mean, so I'd lose friends, especially since the reciprocal invite was NEVER happening.

So, with my dear hubby's Bday on Jan 30th, and VDay on Feb 14th, and MY Bday on Feb 18th, we kinda spread it all out over at least a week of special stuff. Nobody has asked me about what I'd like for my Bday this year other than if I wanted to go out to a comedy club or to see Tower of Power one night, and frankly, my response was "no thanks, I need sleep please!" so I think we're staying pretty close to home. Hubby is pretty thoughtful though, so I wouldn't be shocked to have flowers delivered to the office tomorrow and a coffee delivered at the crack of 10am on Tues by oldest girlchild followed by breakfast in bed on Wed with hubby working from home that day. There may be a special "other meal" this week, there may not, I really have no idea.

In general, with the adjustment to the new schedule, I really want to sleep and relax and chill the frack out for my two days off. Hubby cleaned up and recalibrated the hot tub over the weekend, so I think I'll get some quality time in with that bad boy.

Otherwise I'm pretty sure there's a mani pedi in my future on Wed, and then we're back at the races Thursday, starting off with a big BANG with some Big Enchiladas from head office in Orlando coming to visit and check out the fresh meat recently gradumacated. I was told today to "dress up and be pretty" because I apparently "have a meeting" on Thursday. Okeydoke! Good thing I have some new cute clothes.

I'll revisit the goals and milestones on my days off and set some new ones. I didn't hit One-Derland, but I'm feeling pretty good about where I'm at, especially with all the changes.

Happy Birthday! Oh can I relate! We weren't super poor, but my BDay is in Feb. also, and never had the $$$ to get a present to attend another child's bday party, and as you said, the reciprocity was not going to happen either. As a parent, I fussed over my k ids' birthdays, but found, through the years of sending them off to their friends' birthday parties, frankly . . . lots of 'em were just plain SPOILED!

We always spent birthdays as a family. Since DS is in the Army, in Alaska @ present, that isn't possible this year, and it will feel a bit "empty", but still have DH, DS and Mr. Spot the Wonder Dog!

Your birthday plans sound perfect! We may go out for supper, but not even important if we do or don't this year. Just being together is a present to me.

HUGS and wishing you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY sweetie! emoticon emoticon

Sounds like exactly the birthday celebration you need! Sleep well, soak lots, and enjoy the pampering of getting your nails done.
