I fixed my stationary bike!

Monday, February 18, 2013

It was always ride-able, but the computer part got torn off during our move to our new town, and so there were some busted wires on the inside that my father and husband attempted to reconnect...and did it totally wrong. Which is funny to me, because my dad is an electrical engineer, yet he couldn't tell that the two wires he connected together didn't make sense as a complete fix. And he didn't test the bike correctly to see if it worked - he saw that the monitor started flashing numbers, but he didn't check to see if those numbers changed as you pedaled (like workout duration, pedal speed, calories burned, etc.). If he'd just waited a minute, he'd have seen that the display would time out and shut off as if it was getting no information from the bike.

So I had to take it apart and re-do it myself. I figured out fairly quickly which wires needed to go where but it was going to be really tricky to reattach them so that they stayed and made good connections. That necessitated my hot glue gun, except it's a chargeable cordless one and I didn't know where my charging cable was for a while...

But anyways, I got everything together like a week ago, and then FINALLY made time to actually reattach everything and test it to make sure the information was passing between the pedals and the computer display correctly. It took a while, but I can now use my bike as before! It's soooo nice to be able to see how fast I'm pedaling and use the timer on the bike and all that.

Also, I've been cooking up a storm lately. I made homemade crackers today, homemade almond butter yesterday (we added some honey to it and it was sooooo yummy, ) a loaf of homemade honey wh0le wheat bread, hummus, sugar-free chocolate sauce, and then dinners as usual (lately we've had Greek lemon chicken soup, vegetarian split pea soup with tofu and spinacch, orange-miso glazed salmon, and so many yummy healthy things!) Tomorrow I am going to bake up some of this whole wheat/flaxseed/cooked brown rice bread that I mixed up dough for tonight. God I love food. :) (Don't we all???) At least it's HEALTHY food that I especially love nowadays!

Good weekend all around in my household....hope yours was too!
