lost 40 lbs, still feel disgusted by my body.

Sunday, February 17, 2013

I have lost every single bit of the baby weight plus lost 7 lbs more. That is 40 lbs of weight completely GONE. So why do I still feel like i have not made any progress? I do not see any changes, other than that big old pregnant belly has been replaced with a flabby pooch and stretchmarks. My jeans are a bit looser. Maybe i do not feel like i have made progress because i am in pajamas 24/7. Or because i have not worked out lately. My first attempt of cardio is in the morning. 45 minutes on the stationary in the morning and POSSIBLY 30 minutes tomorrow night. Or maybe vice versa. Still stickinh to food choices although this weekend had a HUGE issue with over eating and not making the best choices. But tonight i was on track- 1/2 potato 4 oz deer roast with bbq sauce and 1/2 cup green beans. In the morning AFTER cardio i will have a green smoothie with kale and blueberries as well as mixed berries and honey for sweetener. My lunch will involve 4 oz of ground turkey, brown rice and a bell pepper. And LOTS of water!

Getting out of the jammies and putting on some clothes that are more body conscious may help. I love yoga pants because they are as comfortable as jammies, but actually look somewhat flattering.

You've done great so far, don't be so hard on yourself!

Body image is a funny thing. It can take some time for your perception of yourself to match what actually IS when you are losing weight. Stay the course. You will eventually see what everyone else sees...a woman that has lost A LOT of weight...a woman that is doing her best (not perfect) to be a good example her her kid.

One thing that I do when I am feeling discouraged...I find a bag of dog food that weighs as much as I have lost so far...pick it up and walk up and down the aisle with it, and REMEMBER what it felt like to be carrying that weight with me 24-7. When I put the bag back down, my knees and back feel instantly better, and so do I.

You might also go back and look at pictures of when you were heavier and see how much you have changed.

Wishing you much success in your journey,
Jane

Two a days of 45 minutes and 30 minutes sounds like A LOT to start out with. I would suggest maybe going for a brisk 30 minute walk or swim to start out. Just my two cents! Good luck!
