The stress of everyday life

Sunday, February 17, 2013

Today I did my walk and stretched out. I did my usual chores for Sunday. I caught up with my 19 year old daughter. Even though she lives with us, we rarely see her with her going to college, working part time and hanging out with her friends or boyfriend.
She informed me that she will be getting another tattoo and that her boyfriend and her have talked about marriage in the future. He is a great kid however, I stressed the importance of both of them finishing college. She said that most likely she would not get engaged for at least a year or two....ok on to my 21 year old son who decided to take a break from college because he does not like what he is studying and does not have any idea what he wants to study. He has been trying to get a job for the last 3 weeks however, I do not think he is trying too hard. His Dad and I will be discussing that with him tomorrow.
I know that life throws us curve balls but my husband and I are tired of our kids. We love them, we just want them to get their degrees and move on. It is taking them way too long to figure things out. Our friends have told us even when they leave, it still can be a headache. So why did we have children again? Thanks for listening! I appreciate all of my Sparkfriends!

Hard to believe, my g.kids are these ages now.. and I hear my dd going through some of these same challenges.
Me on the other hand, was kicked out of my dd's (& 3 g.kids) last summer and we have not spoken since... very heartbreaking.... a lot of my money in the form of a loan to them exasperated things even more....

just thought maybe walking in someone else's shoes might help give you a little different perspective... I'd say enjoy them while you have them, but been there too... Life is a series of challenges at each age and stage of life....

I am cracking up a bit! No kids here, but I am seeing the same things happening with friends who have kids the same age. Hang in there and keep taking those hikes so you can at least have some time to yourself!

We almost have an empty nest so I feel your pain. Dd has been married and living with dsil for four years now. (They don't want children but that's another complaint for another day. LOL) Ds has moved out and back in three times. He turns 26 this May. He has a deadline of July 1 to be out for good. I take a lot of deep breaths and wear headphones a lot when I'm home. Hang in there. emoticon
