I Will Survive

Sunday, February 17, 2013

Remembering that struggles will make us strong and build character, let me tell anyone who knows me, you really know a strong, strong character... remember that Lila... you are strong, and capable and trustworthy and helpful and (see resume for rest!!)

Well, today I had a nice hot bath. The Lakota worked on the pain in my arm/shoulder, Yeah! I finished reading the book called, "The Girl From Loch Bras D'Or" by the 85 y.o. first-time published author back in 1973.. such a wholesome book and story and so much fun to read. Then I started on a new author I found and read her other book "The Penny Pincher's Club", this one is "Kindred SPirits", awesome so far. The library suddenly got ahead of me. I had ordered books and they got 3 of them all in for me on Friday. Add that to the one I have to read for the book club on Mar 6 and the other 3 I have on the go. They told me I didn't have to take them all, they would hold them for me til I caught up.

Well, we had no heat here in apt today, and dh went to basement and banged around a little bit and the heat is sorted again (for who knows how long).
We are in the middle of a winter storm, with high winds and freezing rain right now. BUt earlier today it was rain and melting. I "got to"shovel lots of water out onto the street.

We went to the Shoppers today cuz they had a great deal on. If you bought $75 worth of stuff, you got a $20 gas card and 5cents per litre of 50 litres of gas. So, we didn't really need that much, but eggs and pop were on sale, and I needed multi-vitamins and (I just remembered I needed Splenda or Stevia - I have 0 left - Dang!) Anyway, the really big deal I found was boxes of Praeventia granola bars, regular $4.49 a box of 7, but they had $4 OFF coupons on them, so I got 5 boxes of them.. that's 7 cents a bar!!! WooHoo! All that and the gas coupons too..

But as much fun as shopping, in the heavy rain was, we came home and I went to read again before supper. The tenant upstairs came to tell me her ceiling had water pouring through it. So, for the next 2 hrs. I was on phone with bro and back and forth between her apt and the one over top of her... final diagnosis, plumber will be here at 9am... and I finally got to have supper at 8:30..

Good thing I slept in and ate late. Then I had egg salad on pumpernickel for lunch. Supper was spaghetti, with ground pork, onions, mushrooms, green peppers and black olives... Yummy, especially when you are starved.

So now, needless to say, I am tired......
Kind thoughts to all who support and encourage me... Thank you...

Group hug, INDEED! emoticon The past few days have been quite an odyssey for you! But despite all the turmoil, your perspective and your resolve seem clear and are YOU, my friend. :)

Thanks for reading all my "older" blogs and for sharing your responses - all are much appreciated - good to know I'm not alone as I attempt to stop trying to isolate. :)

That was a heck of a day...glad that you got to settle in and relax finally. Hope the heat is working, the water is not flowing in the ceiling, and the storm is over..
