Foodwise, I'm still doing great. Friday night I celebrated Valentine's Day with my husband. It was my first time eating out on the challenge, so I was a little nervous, but it ended up being the easiest strict Paleo meal out ever. We got an appetizer plate that came with duck, bone marrow, and smoked trout. For dinner, I got two small plates. A pork belly cobb (greens, pork belly, avocado, dried tomatoes, and blue cheese mousse, which I did not eat) and scallops with prosciutto and citrus sauce. The place we went has really good cocktails, so resisting a dark and stormy with homemade ginger beer was probably the hardest part!
Yesterday was a paleo potluck at our new location. It wasn't the best potluck we've ever had (not enough protein, mostly salads), so I had a little chili when I got home. The new gym is really nice though. I probably won't get there very often, but it was nice to finally see it. It's near a bunch of running trails, so I might try and do go out there for a running WOD there once it gets warmer.
I ended up going out to eat again last night. I got beef pot roast which came with carrots and potato puree. I avoided the puree, but my friend got duck fat french fries, which I have always wanted to try. I guess I cheated with a few of those, but I think the duck fat part should cancel out the potato ;)
I get an A for effort on making it to Oly class this week. I went yesterday, but the usual coaches were teaching a seminar and the owners forgot to cancel the class, so there was no coach. It ended up being more like Open Gym, Oly-style with everyone going for a max snatch and max clean and jerk. There was a workout for our competitive team after Oly, and a few of the other coaches arrived early and ended up helping coach a bit at the end. My favorite coach helped me adjust my set-up position for the clean, which I think is main reason I've been having trouble with it lately. This is why I love him. It takes him 5 minutes to fix something I've been working on for the last few weeks. My second pull still has some issues, but I think once I get used to the new set-up position, it might be fixed altogether.
Today I went to open gym. My legs are pretty fatigued from the past few days, so I gave them a rest (even though I have been wanting to try the leg-killing WOD I missed on Tuesday all week). I did push press for a heavy single (missed my PR..need to make sure I press more consistently!), 3x8 ring dips (red band), and 3x5 pull-up negatives (red band).
My goals for this week are to make it to one Oly class and open gym on either Monday or Wednesday night (Saturday too, unless I go to Oly on Saturday).
