Trying chia seeds

Sunday, February 17, 2013

It was time for a shake up of some sort.

I have been suffering from a case of "diet rage," lol, and I knew I needed to make some kind of change to keep things interesting, so I picked up some chia seeds on the way home from work late last night. I have read enough on the boards here to cause me to be at least intrigued.

I just added a tablespoon to a glass of water with lemon and while this was probably not the best way to consume them, I must say that I feel rather full. That's a big deal for me since I rarely feel full (I often say my stop button is broken). Maybe this one is all in my head, but it will be an interesting experiment. I'm always starving late at night and maybe adding a few of these little buggers to my yogurt will help turn the late night tide.

Have a blessed Sunday, all.

curious - do the chia seeds attach and grow hair on the inside of the stomach?

Cracking myself up with the visual picture in my head.

I also tried chia seeds for the first time this week. I sprinkled a tablespoon into my omelet the first time, and in a tuna sandwich the second time. I really haven't been able to tell what they taste like, and didn't notice if they made me feel more full. One thing I noticed is that I seemed to have a bit more energy and be more awake when I get up in the morning. Not sure if that's from the seeds or not, but I'll continue eating them.

That's an interesting idea! I think I'll try it.
My son works at a Bakers Delight here in AU, and he brings home chia seed bread. Just white bread with added chia and it is soooo good. I've "suggested" he not bring it home again. :)
