Experiment Seems to Have Worked

Sunday, February 17, 2013

Hey, I ran 11.33 miles yesterday, burning approximately 850 calories. I ate a total of 2313 calories yesterday, the most I've purposely eaten and tracked in my entire life, and had a (admittedly, approximate) calorie deficit of 1 calorie. This morning I weighed 126.8, just .8 over my target and the second lowest weigh in of this year!!

Eating for my activity level -- rather than trying to undereat, feeling ravenous, and then binging like last Saturday night -- is definitely a healthier option. Perhaps I've learned a lesson!

Wow, killer job. What do you use to measure your calories burned?

It does sound like you are figuring it out! Maybe I will eventually learn something from you! I do that...stick like GLUE to a certain number of calories and then even when I am doing a big job or renovation or such I NEVER deviate and all of a sudden after a few days...I binge. I will certainly be watching you closely, Marsha! THANKS for being such a great blogger! emoticon Gaye

This makes sense. I tend to eat at or above the top of my range on heavy workout days. I'm building up toward your distances slowly, very slowly. I'm keeping an eye on your achievements and trying to follow along.

It takes some figuring out, doesn't it? I'm still working on it, too!

Congrats on getting so close to your goal weight! I was killing myself trying to stay within my calorie range while maintaing a higher level of exercise and instead of losing weight, I got stuck at a plateau. Since I began eating more on the days I exercise more, I've noticed the scale inching downward. I am in the "menopause" battle period right now, so any movement downward is such a victory for me. I think you are right on the mark with eating in correlation to the degree of exercise you do that day! Great insight! emoticon

I am trying that approach also. Keeping my eating healthy but increasing my exercise. Good for you reaching that low eight. I am glad it is working for you.
