"If we don't change, we don't grow. If we don't grow, we aren't really living."

Gail Sheehy

Kinda sorta funny......I never thought about losing weight as a 'growth' experience, but must admit it really has been. It seemed what I set out to do was solely to lose my excess 'growth' (fat). It never occurred to me that this journey could be, or would be, a character builder due to dramatic changes in lifestyle, eating habits & food choices. Yes, for sure....change is GOOD!

First of all, a huge thanks for your wonderful comments on yesterday's blog thoughts. It's so good to hear ideas & suggestions to help us get thru the adjustment to the maintenance phase of this PERMANENT lifestyle change!! Any little gem that we can share with others is such a plus. @ 1crazydog ~ No....I haven't donated any of those big clothes yet. Great idea - I need to get them OUT of the house so that I have NO options except for the smallest sizes!!! It will make this more like a solid contract with myself....like 'this is all you've got, so you'd better be able to wear these jeans - whatever it takes!!' And, like you said....there's definitely NO going back to those old dark times.

It was really cold here most of the day. Did most of the cardio walking inside but did take Jetta out for a circuit on the trail much later on, when we hit our high of 24 degrees!! It was a little windy too, so it felt colder. Mileage: 9.33 miles. No ST today.

It was a real good day for chili, so I made a big batch of it. That's what we had for dinner. It turned out real well. Another change I made was something that I knew I should do for a long time now. Eating oatmeal for breakfast instead of dry cereal. I think it's some kind of magic elixir. WIthin hours I really felt better - did not begin getting hungry within a few hours after eating either. It really sticks with you. I'm going to make sure I eat oatmeal for breakfast every morning from now on. It does make a huge difference and it's so good for you.

Thanks for stopping by today if you had time. Hope your Saturday was great!! emoticon

good for you! That's one of the reasons I donated too -- cemented that "contract" with myself to stay the path, keep progressing. And the feeling that someone else gets use from the clothes, well, that's a bonus!

Have a great Sunday sweetie. Hope your chili turned out well.

Have you ever added turkey to your chili???Does it make it taste weird? I've gone to meatless chili and use black beans instead. Anyway...sounds good for cold days. Have a great one!!

Didn't get much walking in today, but I did do 2 hours of roller skating, so I guess that counts for something.
