First Full Wheat-Free Day --weird...

If you missed my last blog, I have decided to start eliminating wheat products from my life. Since this decision coincided with Lent, it's really good timing to try something new.

My first realization: this is hard! I had to settle for limiting wheat products to just one meal per day. I've been eating a lot of Greek yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, veggies...yeah, I'm a bit limited. But I'm starting to branch out.

Today's full Wheat-Free Day's menu:

Breakfast: Oatmeal with raisins and brown sugar
Lunch: Blueberry/banana/spinach smoothie with Greek yogurt
Dinner: Sauteed chicken, broccoli and buckwheat groats (allowed) made with chicken broth

The interesting thing is that I'm still full from dinner...It's been 2 hours. This is my normal binge-snacking time. And yet -- I'm not hungry. Hmmm...Three cheers for buckwheat groats!

I'm really intrigued. Will this actually work?

    You ROCK! I have naturally cut way down on my wheat/bread/carbs other than fruits and veggies but still have some pasta and bread (mainly if we get Subway subs or have pizza). For now I've given up sweets for lent so one thing at a time!

    It's amazing isn't it!

It'll get easier took me about 2 weeks to get fully weaned. I've found my appetite stabilized for the first time since.....I can't remember!

    emoticon emoticon You are doing great! I know that this takes a lot of discipline and planning. So proud of you! I make the buckwheat groats with chicken broth too as a side dish but haven't added chicken or broccoli. Sounds like a good idea.
