I have been blessed with a new health aide!

Saturday, February 16, 2013

The agency I phoned sent an aide tonight and next week they will send a person to write the care plan! I thought the care plan would come first! So tonight has not gone so well. At least it is a very experienced aide so the changes she wants are fine with me. Some of it will need a doctor to write something so Medicare will pay. emoticon I have been paying for everything myself!

I have been doing this care mostly myself for 7 years! Right now I have an aide only in the morning to get DH up 6 days a week. He cannot stand so transfers have been getting harder and harder. That is the reason I hired an additional aide--one that is connected to a larger agency than I have at present.

This all came about because of a 'lay person' I met at water aerobics. Linda is extremely experienced caring for people. She has made a business of taking one person at a time into her home. she had to find out the complicated laws and get the business going. But in th eprocess she has learned evry aspect of this caregiving business! She is god-sent to me. And tonight's aide is also god -send! Thank You, Lord!

Shouldn't your Dr. have been writting scripts and suggesting how to get health aids, for years?

I am amazed that you have been able to do this by yourself for so long.

Hope this works out for both of you.

Sometimes help comes from an unexpected place (water aerobics) - God is looking after both of you.

His eye is on the sparrow . . . You will have free moments as your new God sent helper get everything organized!! Wonderful!!

The woman down the street has a lift installed on the ceiling to get her in and out of bed. She used to be able to do that herself, but needs help since her hands have become so arthritic.

Do you have such a contraption to help with those transfers?

Chris I am so happy for you and your DH. Honestly, I don't know how you've been able to do so well for so long without a good caring aide. Thank God for your well informed friend and the wonderful new Aide. I hope Medicare will pay for all or most of it as I'm sure it's very expensive. I hope you'll have more Me time and this will make your Life and your DH's easier. May God continue to give you and him inner strength and I'll be praying for everything to work out well. God Bless.

What a blessing to have someone knowlegable to talk with about these things. There is much red tape in getting helps and you need to go though someone that knows their way through the muddle. I pray it works well for you and DH.

This is proof that we are not supposed to 'just know' how to deal with these issues, so we must ask questions and keep asking until we've gotten adequate answers. There is help out there but we can only get it when we continue to push for it. You know how much I've been put through and while I'm going to have to keep fighting this stuff for months or probably years, when this started over a year ago my family were convinced I would never get any help from anyone for anything. If I had listened to them I wouldn't have what I've gotten so far and be in the process of continuing to fight for more. Your husband has undeniable cause for help and assistance, so keep asking questions and fighting for the help you and he require.
