Well, we Floridians were all thinking we were done with winter...recently daytime temps have been in the 80s and it's been warm and sunny. All of a sudden on Thursday, it rained and stormed, and now it's cold again. We will have two nights of temps falling below freezing, so for the second time this season, I have covered my plants. I was reading my friend Lynn's blog this afternoon about snow and I can honestly tell you - it's cold enough here without the white stuff! I cherish my warmth and sunshine!
I had a fairly productive day exercise wise. I walked Hugo this morning, then went to the gym and did some strength training and the elliptical machine. I forgot to wear my Fitbit during my morning walk, so my steps are not all recorded for today, but I am happy with things. I have been watching other women at the gym and I have decided I need to really challenge myself to lift heavier weights. I did try that a couple of weeks ago and ended up straining my left shoulder, so I will have to be careful. But all the ladies who looked really strong and fit were definitely lifting what I consider to be heavy weights (10+lbs). My older friend who is in her 70s can lift some heavy weights, and she is quite an inspiration to watch, so I will be challenging myself in that direction in the coming weeks.
I am wanting also to transition into a running program. Walking doesn't seem to be enough to move the scale anymore. I actually like to jog, except for two things that bother me and yes they are attached to my upper body, LOL...So I guess I need to go looking for a really good sports bra on Monday when I finally go look for new sneakers. I have done some research online, so now I need to go try them on. Wonder if people will think I'm nuts if I run out of the dressing room and take a couple of laps around the store? It sounds hilarious, but it's a PROBLEM...LOL. Maybe I'll just jump up and down in the dressing room instead? Either way I plan to "test" things out!
On another note, I scheduled my appointment to get fingerprinted and paid for that today. You must be fingerprinted in Florida to get a real estate license. Mine has been inactive for so long that I have to do everything all over again. I will submit my application to the Department of Professional Regulation as soon as I get my prints done, then I just have to take the course and exam to be fully licensed again. It doesn't sound like much, but I feel happy when I take even a small step towards my goal of changing careers. Every journey begins with the first step as they say!
